Kingston, ON (April 27, 2017) – United Way Success By 6 Week is a fun-filled week of events and activities for the youngest members of our community. Once again, this year the week features over a hundred free activities in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington for children 0-6 years, their parents and caregivers.
This annual initiative runs from Monday, May 1st to Sunday, May 7th, and aims to increase public awareness about the importance of early childhood learning and care. The week provides opportunities for young children, their families and caregivers to participate and have fun together. Organizers have been working since early January to plan the events, building on the success and participation of previous years.
Success By 6 Week events have been planned in six categories – physical activities, learning activities, entertainment, environment, drop-ins & playgroups and fun activities. This year there are several new events including Storytime with Peppa Pig, Fire & Rescue display, Farm Fresh Fun and Bollywood Dancing, as well as returning favourites like the Police Station Tour, Touch the Trucks, a visit to the Recycling Centre and Yamaha Music Class.
The week also features French and bilingual events including Il était une fois…Chapeau!, Goodnight Moon/Bon Soir Lune Story Walk, Ce soir on bouge and Bilingual Stay and Play.
“We know that when children receive the right nutrition, nurturing and care in the first six years, the results are incredible,” says Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way of KFL&A. “The first six years in a child’s life are the most important. Thank you to our co-chairs, committee and participating organizations for making early years a priority.”
