United Way KFL&A is proud to announce that our organization has, once again, been recognized by Charity Intelligence on their top 100 Rated Charities list for 2019. The list looks at 750 charities across the country and rates them based on rating methodology. According to their rankings, the top 100 charities:
- are leaders in reporting to donors, a good sign of accountability
- are cost efficient with overhead spending averaging 20%
- need support – none have more than three years of funding reserves,
- are financially transparent
You can learn more about the rankings here. United Way KFL&A is proud to be recognized in this way and to be the only social service charity in the Kingston area to make this list.
In terms of accountability, United Way volunteer Board of Directors oversees the budget and keeps fundraising costs to a minimum thanks to community partnerships and thousands of volunteers. Audited financial statements show our fundraising costs to be 15.7% (including 3% administration.)
