Long-time volunteer takes the reins for United Way’s 76th annual campaign
Kingston, ON (April 25, 2017) The United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington today announced that Pat Murphy of the Secura Financial Group will chair the 2017 annual campaign this fall.
The announcement was made at United Way’s annual Workplace Volunteer Award Luncheon, an event that recognizes the efforts and contributions of employees in KFL&A workplaces.
In this volunteer leadership role, Pat will lead the United Way campaign, recruiting a volunteer Campaign Cabinet and raising funds through the annual campaign.
“It is an honour to be the 2017 Campaign Chair,” says Pat. “I look forward to working with so many champions of the United Way, helping to change lives right here in our community. Everyone can make a difference – by donating or volunteering, stepping up to help people in need”
Pat takes the reigns from 2016 chair Brigadier-General Stephen Kelsey who led the successful 75th anniversary campaign
“Pat has been a volunteer with the United Way for many years,” says Caroline Davis, Chair of the United Way Board of Directors. “We are delighted to have him in this leadership role and I know he will do a wonderful job.”
The United Way annual campaign is the largest community organized fund-raising effort, helping thousands of people through collective action, raising funds that will then be invested in local programs. It wouldn’t be possible without the support of thousands of volunteers in the community.
The 12-week campaign will kick off on Friday, September 8, 2017.
