KINGSTON, ONT. / October 25, 2017 – Novelis, the world’s premier producer of rolled aluminum and the global leader in aluminum recycling, will be impacting the Kingston community, as part of the company’s global Novelis volunteer month projects. Novelis provides large-scale volunteer projects in all major locations.
Locally, Novelis employees work with United Way KFLA to identify a project in the Kingston community. This year, Novelis volunteers will renovate the Youth Hub at 426 Barrie Street, by refreshing the kitchen area with new flooring, cabinets, and appliances, in order to provide and area where youth can learn about heathy cooking and provide a work space where they can prepare meals.
The Youth Hub opened this month and helps young people between the ages of 16-24 who are homeless or not in education, employment or training to connect. The Hub provides services and supports through a coordinated intake, referral, and service system at a single-site location at 426 Barrie Street. This allows youth to easily access multiple service agencies under one roof, providing a community approach to wraparound care.
“Novelis takes great pride in being a good neighbor and giving back to the communities in which we work and raise our families. We are excited about the opportunity to bring our employee team together to make a difference in our community,” says Audy Tallack, Novelis employee and champion of this year’s Novelis Neighbor project. “Knowing the work we do will make a difference in the lives of youth in the months and years to come is a wonderful feeling. We appreciate the partnership with the United Way that enables us to link with community agencies”
The project starts on Monday, October 30th and will continue all week with volunteers on-site daily from 9am through till 4pm.
