What is United Way Next Gen?
United Way Next Gen is a local initiative focused on developing a community of stakeholders in their twenties and thirties, encouraging them to invest their time, energy and money in the community through the United Way. This initiative creates opportunities for future leaders to participate and empowers them to support and advance the impact of the United Way. The Next Gen movement is a unique opportunity for the next generation to become an integral part of the local community and bring about meaningful change.

Become a Next Gen Workplace Ambassador
Next Gen Ambassadors are young leaders in workplaces who work with committees to engage the next generation of leaders. These leaders participate in Next Gen activities, promote events and engagement opportunities within their workplaces. They provide information about events and network opportunities to their peers and participate in volunteering, networking and learning opportunities.

• Increase awareness of the Next Gen and United Way message and presence in the community at a place of business;
• Follow and support United Way social media content and messaging by posting / reposting / and commenting on community impact content and amplifying engagement and educational opportunities (virtual events, campaign details, etc.) to their peers
• Provide information about events and network opportunities to employees, and;
• Act as a point of contact between the United Way Next Gen and your employees in the Next Generation
In this role, individuals are able to:
• Learn about critical issues affecting the community and become part of the solution
• Build leadership skills through the workplace campaign volunteer committee
• Network with peers at events
• Contribute to the philanthropic efforts of their workplaces
Time Commitment: Next Gen Workplace Ambassador’s time commitment is generally matched to support the workplace campaign efforts and communications, working with their Employee Campaign Chair to support efforts and communicate content to their peer demographic. Next Gen Workplace Ambassadors can generally expect a couple of hours per month. While there will be limited event and engagement opportunities in 2020 due to physical distancing, there will be virtual engagement opportunities.

Next Gen Masquerade Event
The first-ever Next Gen Masquerade was held on February 9, 2013, at the Renaissance event venue. Since then it has been the marquee event for United Way’s Next Gen – raising nearly $40,000 for the community.
The Next Gen Masquerade is a semi-formal soiree, offering a chance to slip behind a mask and enjoy an evening of intrigue, cocktails and dancing. Delicious appetizers are served, cocktails available, and a DJ on the upper level or listen to live music on the lower level. Get creative and make your own mask or go hunting for a unique mask to compliment your outfit. Masks will also be available by donation at the event.
Stay tuned for when the next Next Gen Masquerade will take place.
