Local Love Impacting Local Lives

The United Way invests in programs that have a wide range of impact. These programs support thousands of local residents, helping them when they need it the most. Here are just some of the people your donations have helped.

John’s story

I struggled with housing throughout my adult life, but with the United Way I was able to connect with services that helped me find stable housing and the confidence I needed to participate in my community.

Alexis’ story

When I got to high school I struggled to fit in. I fought with my parents and  I ended up leaving home, getting involved with the wrong crowd and with drugs. Without the support and guidance I received from United Way funded agencies, I would not be where I am, or who I am today.

Jaz’s story

At 21, I was living on the streets, using drugs and had little support. A social worker told me about a program funded by United Way that helped new and expectant mothers and I started going. I now have three healthy children and help others in similar situations.

United Way of KFL&A would like to acknowledge this traditional territory’s longer existence and its significance for the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live on Turtle Island.

We are situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat land. There are Métis and other non-status First People from many Indigenous Nations present in our community today. This acknowledgement symbolizes the United Way KFL&A’s first step, of many, along this path toward Indigenous reconciliation, in a respectful manner.
