Kingston, ON (February 22, 2016) The United Way Volunteer Centre has opened its call for nominations for the annual Volunteers Grow Community Awards. The awards, sponsored by Investors Group, recognize Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington residents who make a positive difference in our community by volunteering with a local not-for-profit.
“We know how important volunteers are and this is an excellent opportunity to inspire people in our community to make a positive difference through volunteerism,” says United Way President & CEO, Bhavana Varma. “Volunteers make a difference every day. This is a chance to celebrate their hard work and say thank you during National Volunteer Week.”
Organizations and individuals are invited to nominate volunteers who are active in local not-for-profit organizations. These include charities, agencies, hospitals, schools, sports leagues, religious institutions, community centres, research facilities, long-term-care facilities or cultural groups.
Nominees can be selected for their outstanding volunteer efforts in coordinating initiatives, organizing events, mentoring or coaching, providing leadership on Boards, committees, or in celebration of an exceptional length of service.
Nomination Forms are available at the United Way office at 417 Bagot Street or online RIGHT HERE.The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 18, 2016.

Volunteers Grow Community awards will be handed out during a recognition event, sponsored by Investors Group, on Monday, April 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall, City Hall.
