Kingston, ON (April 25, 2016) – United Way Success By 6 Week is a fun-filled week of events and activities for the youngest members of our community. This year features 144 free activities in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington between Sunday, May 1 and Sunday, May 8, 2016.
This annual initiative aims to increase public awareness about the importance of early childhood learning and care, providing opportunities for young children, their families and caregivers to “Take the Time, Make the Moments Matter™”. A volunteer committee has been working since early January to plan the events, building on the success and participation of previous years.
Success By 6 Week events have been planned in six categories – physical activities, learning activities, entertainment, environment, drop-ins & playgroups and fun activities. This year, some activities have been organized specially for the Francophone community.
Returning favourites include Story Time with Franklin the Turtle, Dipping for Pond Creatures, Robinson Family Farm Tour, a free child-friendly movie, free parent and tot swims and yoga.
Several businesses and organizations in the region have come on board with exciting new events this year, offering their space, time and effort. Some of the new additions include A Dog’s Playground, Glocca Morra Greenhouse Tour, OPP Frontenac Detachment and Kingston Police Force Station Tours and Tett Centre Creativity Club with Gary Rasberry and his Blue Guitar.
“We know that when children receive the right nutrition, nurturing and care in the first six years, the results can be incredible,” says Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way of KFLA. “The first six years in a child’s life are the most important. Thank you to our co-chairs, committee and participating organizations for making early years a priority.”
