United Way of KFL&A Announces 2019 Campaign Goal
$3,551,000 goal encourages community to show their local love
KiNGSTON, ON (September 6, 2019) – The United Way KFL&A has announced a goal of $3,551,000 for the 2019 campaign. The announcement was made this morning in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the annual kickoff breakfast at the Ambassador Hotel & Conference Centre.
Scott Harris, 2019 United Way of KFL&A campaign chair and Regional Deputy Commissioner for the Correctional Service of Canada announced the region-wide goal in front of more than 500 United Way supporters and volunteers.
“My hope for the year is that we will build on the successes of the past to have another great campaign,” said Harris. “Last year, more than 53,000 people were helped locally. By continuing to give and support United Way, you are all creating a stronger community and an even better place to live.”
Volunteers representing each workplace took turns at the kick-off sharing their individual campaign goal and why they believe accomplishing this achievement is so vital to the health and wellbeing of their community.
This year’s goal represents a three per cent increase over the 2018 goal. The campaign runs for the next 12 weeks, wrapping up on November 29. Seventy per cent of funds raised come through workplace campaigns, with the balance donated by people in the community and by community events.
“Although we focus on a 12-week campaign, United Way staff, volunteers and supporters facilitate positive change year round,” Harris added. “As our agencies struggle to meet the complex issues faced by their clients, we are asking people to continue to show their local love and invest in their community and, if possible, to consider increasing their gift.”

I hope that this campaign goal is reached, because this goal will help out the poor people, and I think that’s something vital to do right now. The poor are getting poorer, and they need as much help as we can give him.
