Empire Life raises more than $271,800 for United Way
(Kingston, ON – November 15, 2018) – The annual Empire Life United Way campaign surpassed its goal, raising more than $271,800 to benefit United Ways across Canada. The company matched employee and retiree pledges up to $125,000.
“Our goal this year was $240,000. We chose the theme, ‘Mission Possible’ to have some fun and because we know when our employees put their minds and hearts into supporting a great cause, anything is possible,” says Ian Alexander, one of the campaign co-chairs. “We couldn’t believe it when the final numbers came in and we exceeded our goal by $30,000.”
While the focus is on pledges, campaign teams in Empire Life offices across the country planned fun events, including an onsite escape room with materials donated by Improbable Escapes of Kingston, food events, a silent auction and more.
“United Way is all about changing lives locally. We are grateful to all our employees, retirees and everyone who contributed to our campaign this year and made it their mission to make a better life possible for thousands of people in need in communities across Canada,” says Ian.
Over the past 10 years, Empire Life, its employees and retirees have generously donated almost $2.5 million to support United Way agencies and programs across Canada.
