United Way of KFL&A Announces Campaign Goal
$3,456,000 goal aims to change thousands of local lives
KINGSTON, ON (September 7, 2018) – The local United Way has announced a goal of $3,456,000 for this year’s campaign. The announcement was made this morning in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the annual kickoff breakfast at the Ambassador Conference Resort Centre, which co-sponsored the event along with Assurant.
Fred Godbille, 2018 United Way of KFL&A campaign chair announced the region-wide goal in front of more than 500 United Way supporters and volunteers.
“Changing lives locally is the wonderful effect of the spirit and generosity that this community shows every year. As a result, more than 58,000 friends, neighbours and family members can rely on United Way funded programs. This certainly drives home for me the realization that every dollar counts.”
Volunteers representing each workplace took turns at the kick-off sharing their individual campaign goal and why they believe accomplishing this achievement is so vital to the health and wellbeing of their community.
The campaign runs for the next 12 weeks and wraps up on November 29. Seventy percent of funds raised come through workplace campaigns, and the balance is donated by people in the community and by community events.
“Although we focus on a 12-week campaign, United Way staff, volunteers and supporters facilitate positive change 365 days a year,” Godbille added. “As our agencies struggle to meet the complex issues faced by their clients, we are asking people to continue to invest in their community and, if possible, to consider increasing their gift.”
